Barkly Square

Barkly Square, located at 25-39 Barkly Street in Ballarat East, is a vibrant community hub that has been a center for learning since 1862. It offers a range of facilities, including function spaces accommodating up to 250 people, suitable for training, corporate events, exhibitions, conferences, team meetings, business luncheons, award ceremonies, workshops, presentations, and training. The venue features a community kitchen, art exhibition space, training rooms, and well-maintained gardens. Amenities include flexible and spacious facilities, access to a lecture theatre, open-plan communal spaces, meeting rooms, café/catering services, kitchenette facilities, free parking, lockers, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Barkly Square is home to BGT Jobs & Training Ballarat, a not-for-profit organization established in 1986, supporting individuals in accessing employment, training, and community service programs. The venue also hosts various community groups and offers weekly services such as a Justice of the Peace on Thursdays from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. The surrounding gardens, established in 1864, are a cherished community asset, featuring historical elements like a wrought iron fence (1881), entrance gates (1900), and two Spanish fir trees planted by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in 1901.
