Ashton Coal Mine, situated near Camberwell in New South Wales' Upper Hunter Valley, is an underground operation producing semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle. The mine employs longwall mining methods and has an annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes. Adjacent to the New England Highway, the site includes facilities such as ventilation fans, a gas drainage plant, and a nitrogen plant. Ashton Coal Operations Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia Ltd, manages the mine.
