Established in 1921, the 1st Sunshine Scout Group has been a cornerstone of the Sunshine community for over a century. Its Nixon Street hall, officially opened 50 years ago, continues to serve as a hub for youth development. Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers meet on Thursday nights, while Rover Scouts gather on Tuesdays. The group offers a range of activities, including camping, caving, abseiling, rock climbing, scuba diving, sailing, and paddling, fostering confidence and leadership skills among youth aged six to 23.
