Woodford Island

Woodford Island, the largest island in the lower Clarence River, offers a tranquil rural lifestyle with a close-knit community of approximately 300 residents. The island spans 45.93 km² and is accessible via two bridges: the Wingfield Bridge connecting to Cowper and the McFarlane Bridge leading to Maclean. The area is predominantly agricultural, with sugar cane cultivation and dairy farming as primary industries. The Woodford Island Nature Reserve, covering 374 hectares, conserves part of the island's ridge and features old-growth coastal blackbutt and red bloodwood forests.
