Located at Muriel Henchman Drive, Main Beach, VMR Southport is a dedicated volunteer organization committed to ensuring maritime safety along the Gold Coast. Established over 50 years ago, it operates 24/7, offering assistance ranging from emergency rescues to routine breakdowns. With a team of over 120 active members, VMR Southport manages four fully equipped rescue vessels, responding to more than 800 activations annually. Their operational area spans from Point Danger to Jumpinpin, covering the Gold Coast Broadwater and extending 30 nautical miles offshore. The organization also provides continuous radio monitoring, delivering up-to-date weather and tidal information, boating safety advice, and vessel logging services. Additionally, VMR Southport collaborates with the Queensland Water Police and Queensland Ambulance Service, assisting in search and rescue operations and transporting emergency paramedics to marine incidents. Funded by community donations and memberships, VMR Southport remains a vital resource for the boating community, ensuring safety and peace of mind on the water.
