Thursday Island Police Station, located at 160 Douglas Street, serves as the administrative hub of the Torres Strait. The station accommodates 21 general duties police officers, eight plainclothes officers, an intelligence officer, a Scenes of Crime Officer, a police prosecutor, and five Water Police. Additionally, Torres Strait Islander Police Liaison Officers are stationed within their communities on the individual islands. Travel between the islands is facilitated by boat or plane, with the station's own Police Air Wing available for island responses. Regular patrols are conducted using the 23-metre QPV Brett T Handran catamaran, staffed by three water police, one general duties officer, and one detective.
