
The Flinders Ranges Council, established on January 1, 1997, through the amalgamation of the District Council of Hawker and the District Council of Kanyaka-Quorn, serves a diverse community across a vast area of 4,198 square kilometers. The council comprises a Mayor and eight Councillors, each elected for a four-year term, with the most recent elections held in November 2022. Regular council meetings are scheduled every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm, alternating between the Quorn Council Chambers and the Hawker Community Sports Centre. The council's responsibilities encompass waste management, local environmental management, infrastructure development, town planning, parks, social planning, project and event management, and various other services.
