
Established in 2001 by the Traditional Owners of the Thamarrurr region, Thamarrurr Rangers is a dedicated Indigenous land and sea management team based in Wadeye, Northern Territory. Operating across 18,000 square kilometers of land and 240 kilometers of coastline, the rangers engage in activities such as fire management, weed and feral animal control, marine species monitoring, and cultural site preservation. They collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Australian Institute of Marine Science and ENI, to monitor marine park health and implement sustainable practices. The team comprises over 20 Indigenous staff and 4 non-Indigenous support staff, all committed to protecting and preserving their Country.
