Peter Faust Dam, also known as Lake Proserpine, is a picturesque reservoir located approximately 26 kilometers west of Proserpine in Queensland's Whitsunday Region. Completed in December 1990, the dam impounds the Proserpine River, creating a serene environment ideal for various recreational activities. The area offers well-maintained unpowered camping sites suitable for tents and self-contained caravans, with facilities including picnic areas, BBQs, and a boat ramp. Visitors can enjoy fishing, particularly targeting the renowned metre-plus barramundi, and partake in boating, kayaking, and swimming. Pets are permitted but must be kept on a leash. The dam is managed by Sunwater, with recreational facilities owned and operated by Whitsunday Regional Council. Recent upgrades have enhanced amenities, including new toilet and shower facilities, and the addition of fishing pontoons. Visitors are encouraged to adhere to safety guidelines, especially regarding submerged trees and potential crocodile sightings.
