Perched on the eastern side of the Castlereagh Highway, approximately 2.5 km southeast of Capertee and 6.7 km northwest of Ben Bullen, Pearsons Lookout offers one of the finest vantage points to view the southern end of the Capertee Valley. On clear days, visitors are treated to a panoramic vista that includes Mount Airly, Genowlan Mountain, Cottage Rock, Mount Innes, Mount Iris, Mount Gundangaroo, Mount Canobla, Point Anderson, Red Rocks, Point Nicholson, Mount Dawson, Mount Harvey, Mount Stewart, Mount McLean, and Mount Jamison. The lookout is named after John Westall Pearson, who was listed as Director and Chairman of the Commonwealth Oil Corporation in 1919 and was involved in commercial aspects of mining in the area. A photo titled "Capertee Valley from Pearsons Lookout," dated December 1937, is held by the State Library of NSW. Major road upgrades to this lookout were completed in June 2013.
