Mount Mulligan

Mount Mulligan, also known as Ngarrabullgan, is a remote locality in Far North Queensland, Australia, approximately 160 kilometers northwest of Cairns. This area is renowned for its rich Indigenous heritage, with the Djungan people having lived here for over 40,000 years. The landscape is dominated by the impressive Mount Mulligan, a 3-kilometer-long sandstone plateau that holds significant cultural importance. The region's history includes a gold rush in the 1870s and a coal mining operation from 1910 until 1957, which was marked by the tragic 1921 mine disaster. Today, Mount Mulligan offers a tranquil escape, attracting visitors for its natural beauty, heritage, and opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and camping.
