Martins Creek Quarry, situated on Station Street in Martins Creek, NSW 2420, has been a cornerstone of the region's construction industry for over a century. Established in 1915 as a ballast quarry by the State Railway Authority, it has evolved into a significant supplier of high-quality hard rock products, including rail ballast, sealing aggregates, asphalt aggregates, concrete aggregates, manufactured sand, drainage aggregates, DGB and DGS, Stabilstone (heavily bound R73), and gabion/armour rock. The quarry's strategic location offers excellent connectivity to major markets, with proximity to the Pacific Motorway and New England Highway facilitating easy access to Sydney, Newcastle, and the Hunter Valley. Additionally, the site is connected to the main North Coast Rail Line, enhancing its logistical capabilities. An operational dual-line rail spur enables efficient loading of materials, further streamlining distribution. In December 2012, Daracon Quarries assumed operations at Martins Creek Quarry, continuing its legacy of providing essential materials for civil, rail, and marine construction projects. The quarry's extensive resource base, with an estimated remaining andesite in-situ resource of 51 million tonnes as of 2024, underscores its capacity to meet the region's ongoing demand for quality construction materials.
