Manton Dam, constructed in 1942, was Darwin's first reliable water supply. Located approximately 70 kilometers south of Darwin, it now serves as a popular recreational destination. Visitors can enjoy activities such as boating, water skiing, and fishing, with designated zones for high-speed watercraft and low-speed boating. The area features picnic spots with tables and barbecues, and is home to diverse wildlife, including various bird species. Swimming is not permitted due to crocodile presence. The dam is open daily from sunrise to sunset; camping is not allowed.
