
Loy Yang B Power Station, situated in Victoria's Latrobe Valley, is a pivotal brown coal-fired power generator approximately 160 km east of Melbourne. With a maximum generating capacity of 1,200 MW, it supplies about 20% of Victoria's electricity needs. The station comprises two units commissioned between 1993 and 1996, each drawing coal from the adjacent Loy Yang A open cut mine. Renowned for its reliability and cost-effectiveness, Loy Yang B is among the most dependable generators in the National Electricity Market. The facility is owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited and operated by Latrobe Valley Power (Holdings) Pty Ltd.
