The Lithgow Solid Waste Facility, located at 68 Geordie Street, Lithgow, NSW 2790, operates daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the last vehicle entry at 4:45 pm. This facility accepts a wide range of waste, including household residential waste, green waste, tyres, mattresses, whitegoods, building waste, putrescible waste, commercial waste, demolition waste, and asbestos. Notably, it is the only facility in the area that accepts commercial waste, demolition waste, mattresses, tyres, and asbestos. Asbestos disposal requires prior booking with Customer Service at (02) 6354 9999. In addition to waste disposal, the facility features a Resource Recovery Centre, which includes a Reuse Shed. The Reuse Shed operates Wednesday through Sunday, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, offering items in good condition for public reuse. This initiative supports the community's transition towards a circular economy by diverting waste from landfill. The facility also introduced the Jaylon Tarp Deployment System in March 2023, enhancing landfill operations by covering waste with tarpaulins instead of soil, thereby preserving landfill space and reducing operational costs.
