
Lake Wellington Yacht Club, established in 1960, is situated at Marlay Point on the western shore of Lake Wellington, the westernmost lake of the Gippsland Lakes. The club offers a welcoming environment for both seasoned sailors and newcomers eager to explore the sport. Its sailing season runs from October to April, featuring a mix of social sailing and competitive racing. The club accommodates a diverse fleet, including Hartley 16s, Explorer 16s, RL 24s, Castle 650s, Noelex 25s, Timpenny 650s, Boomerang 20s, and various off-the-beach boats like Mosquitoes, Laser 4.7s, Laser Radials, Sabres, Hansas, and Catamarans. Members can sail their own boats or borrow club-owned vessels. The club also hosts the historic Marlay Point Overnight Race annually, a tradition since 1968. Facilities include accessible amenities, a BBQ area, and a kitchen, with options for event hire. Camping and caravan sites are available for extended stays, offering access to showers and toilets. The club is committed to inclusivity, operating a Sailability program for individuals with disabilities. Membership options cater to various needs, including family, senior, and junior memberships, with provisions for boat storage.
