Katherine Airport

Katherine Tindal Civilian Airport, located approximately 15 kilometers south of Katherine along the Stuart Highway, operates 24/7 to accommodate various aviation needs. Established through a partnership between the Katherine Town Council and the RAAF Base Tindal in the early 1990s, the airport features a 2,744-meter asphalt runway suitable for aircraft up to Boeing 737 size. Security measures include surveillance cameras and electronic gates, with access granted to holders of a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). The airport serves as a hub for several companies offering regional operational services, including private charters. Refueling services are available via self-service AVGAS bowsers or by contacting Viva Energy Aviation. For air traffic services, inquiries can be directed to the Department of Defence. The airport is managed by the Katherine Town Council, which oversees all operational aspects.
