Established in 1897, Isis Central Sugar Mill is a locally owned company in Isis Central, Queensland. It processes approximately 1.5 million tonnes of sugarcane annually, producing around 224,000 tonnes of raw sugar. The mill also generates electricity from renewable sugarcane bagasse through a partnership with Sustainable Energy Infrastructure. In 2023, it initiated a project to cultivate algae using wastewater, aiming to produce biofuel and human food. The mill is owned by about 300 growers who supply sugarcane from approximately 13,000 hectares.
