Hume Dam, completed in 1936, stands as a monumental feat of engineering, once the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It regulates the River Murray's flow, supplying water for irrigation, domestic use, and hydroelectric power across three states. Visitors can enjoy activities like boating, fishing, and camping along the 400 km of lake foreshores. The dam features a 318-meter-long concrete spillway and a 51-meter-high wall, offering panoramic views of Lake Hume and the surrounding countryside.
