Established in 1971, the Gove Peninsula Surf Lifesaving Club is the Northern Territory's first surf lifesaving club, dedicated to ensuring beach safety in East Arnhem Land. Located at Town Beach in Nhulunbuy, the club offers patrols from June to September, primarily at Town Beach, with occasional patrols at nearby locations like Little Bondi Beach. The club provides training programs for all ages, including Nippers, Cadets, and adults, fostering a strong community spirit. Its clubhouse, situated on grassy bluffs overlooking the Arafura Sea, is available for private functions and offers a licensed bar on Friday nights and some Sunday afternoons during the dry season.
