Daly Waters Airfield, established in 1929, is Australia's first international airfield, serving as a vital refueling stop for early Qantas flights to Singapore. During World War II, it became a significant base for the Royal Australian Air Force and the United States Army Air Force, supporting operations in the Pacific theater. The original Qantas hangar, constructed in 1930, remains intact, housing exhibits of photographs and equipment from the area's aviation past. The airfield is still utilized by the RAAF for joint military maneuvers.
