The Thunderdome, a 1.8 km high-speed banked oval track, is a prominent feature of Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Victoria. Completed in 1987, it was designed to host high-speed motorsport events, including NASCAR-style racing. The track features 24-degree banking in the corners, with the front stretch banked at 4 degrees and the back straight at 6 degrees. While the Thunderdome has not hosted major events since 1999, recent improvements, including the installation of new LED lighting, have revitalized the venue, supporting a range of motorsport activities.
