Longford, TAS

Brickendon Estate, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a captivating glimpse into Tasmania's early history. Established in 1824 by William Archer, the estate has been continuously operated by his descendants for seven generations. Visitors can explore the 1820s convict-built farm village, featuring a chapel, blacksmith’s shop, cookhouse, and timber barns. The heritage gardens, encircling the Georgian homestead, showcase a diverse collection of 180-year-old trees, including oaks, elms, and pines. Accommodation options include historic cottages with open fires and modern amenities, as well as rustic farm cottages overlooking the picturesque countryside. Guests can enjoy daily animal feeding at 10:15 am and embark on the 'Convict Walk' to the neighboring Woolmers Estate. The estate is located 20 minutes from Launceston and 15 minutes from the Launceston Airport.
