The Fimiston Open Pit, known as the Super Pit, is a prominent gold mining operation located adjacent to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, approximately 600 kilometers east of Perth, Western Australia. As one of Australia's largest open-pit gold mines, it encompasses the Fimiston and Mt Charlotte underground mines, along with the Fimiston and Gidji processing plants. The Golden Mile, at the heart of the Kalgoorlie Goldfield, has produced over 65 million ounces of gold over 130 years. The Super Pit's rich history dates back to the 1893 gold rush, and it continues to be a significant contributor to Australia's gold production.
