The Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC) serves as the peak representative body for the Traditional Owners of the Groote Archipelago in the Northern Territory. Established in 1991 under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976, the ALC is dedicated to protecting, maintaining, and promoting Anindilyakwa culture. It plays a pivotal role in land management, sacred site protection, and negotiations with resource companies on behalf of 14 clans of the Groote Archipelago. The council operates from its main office in Alyangula, with additional facilities in Angurugu, Umbakumba, and Bickerton Island, ensuring comprehensive support for the Anindilyakwa people.
