
A1 Mine Settlement, located at 7893 Mansfield-Woods Point Rd, Gaffneys Creek VIC 3723, is a historic site in Victoria's Upper Goulburn region. Established in the 1860s, it was known for the A1 Gold Mine, which operated from 1861 to 1992, producing over 450,000 ounces of gold. The settlement, also called Castle Reef and Raspberry Creek, featured a post office, hotels, and a school. Today, remnants of the settlement, including historic cottages and mining relics, remain, offering a glimpse into the area's rich mining heritage.
