Perched atop a low-lying volcanic remnant known as "The Hummock," this lookout offers panoramic views of the Bundaberg region. To the east, visitors can see the ocean, while to the west, the sugar fields encircle the city, with the Bundaberg Distillery and Mill's smoke stacks on the horizon. The site holds significant cultural importance for the Taribelang Bunda Aboriginal people, who refer to it as 'Woongarra' and consider it their 'burning mountain.' A large Aboriginal art mural at the site depicts the story of Paddys Island during European settlement, which remains visible from the lookout today. The area is accessible year-round and offers facilities such as a car park, picnic tables, and a barbeque. It's a popular spot for birdwatching and leisurely walks, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and cultural exploration.
