The Balancing Rock

Nestled in the picturesque Stonehenge Recreational Reserve, The Balancing Rock offers photographers a unique opportunity to capture stunning granite formations. This area, approximately 12 kilometers south of Glen Innes on the New England Highway, features impressive rock structures, including the iconic Balancing Rock—a massive granite boulder resting on a narrow point. While the Balancing Rock itself is on private property and not accessible to the public, it can be viewed from a nearby rest area. The surrounding reserve provides ample space for exploration and photography, with minimal light pollution enhancing night sky shots.
