Currie Lighthouse, King Island

Price on enquiry
Currie Lighthouse, constructed in 1879, stands as a testament to King Island's maritime heritage. This 21.3-meter-tall wrought iron tower, with a focal height of 48.8 meters, was designed to guide ships approaching from the southwest. Its distinctive flashing light, operating every 12 seconds, was intended to differentiate it from the fixed light of Cape Wickham. The lighthouse's keeper's residence, now a museum, offers insights into the island's history, including tales of shipwrecks and early pioneers. Visitors can ascend the 93 spiral steps for panoramic views of Currie Harbour and the surrounding coastline.
