Sam is the co-founder behind The Daily Aus, the leading news source for young Australians. Back in 2017, Sam and his co-founder Zara were two 20-somethings fed up with the way news was presented to young Australians, so they launched something different. TDA is an independent, social-first news outlet that employs young people to write news for young people. Today, it reaches over 2 million people a month, and for most of their audience (mostly under 30), it’s their primary source of news. Sam has led an organisation of young people (he's the oldest in the organisation at a ripe 30!) that has transformed a simple Instagram account into Australia’s leading social-first news platform, engaging over a million young Australians each month. His journey from side hustle to a thriving media company is a testament to the power of purpose-driven entrepreneurship. Sam can chat about the early days from crafting bite-sized news updates for friends right through to the pivotal moments that fuelled their growth, the challenges of launching without prior business experience, and how he continues to innovate in an ever-changing media landscape. He can dig into what it’s been like behind the scenes – the risks, the wins, the moments of doubt, the difficult decisions and the ethics of it all. Working with your organisation, Sam can unpack the big issues young people care about today, from global chaos to crumbling trust in politics and the media and explore how this generation might just be shaping a new path forward. It’s a chance to hear from a founder reshaping how we consume news, and how he's built a brand that speaks directly to Gen Z.
