If you have ever worked for a sh*tty boss… and let’s be honest, who here has not… then this next speaker might just become your new favourite person. Leon Purton is a leadership speaker and coach, a military veteran, and the author of the award winning book The Ignited Leader. He has spent more than two decades leading teams in high pressure environments, from military operations to complex engineering programs and corporate boardrooms. Along the way he discovered a simple truth about leadership. Great leaders do not just get things done. They bring others with them. Leon now spends his time standing on stages and working with leaders to challenge the over-reliance on management skills and the underuse of leadership skills, and to help people rediscover what real leadership looks like. He calls the Gold Coast home, where he stays active, hunts down great food, and remains a stubbornly optimistic Everton supporter. Leon is not here to give you leadership theory or just tell stories about great leaders. Well… maybe a few. He is here to give you practical models and frameworks that will help you show up differently as a leader straight away. And he is going to challenge you to do exactly that. What event organisers say "Your session on the Three Rooms of Leadership was a fantastic way to close the event. The energy, depth and thought you brought to the session was genuinely appreciated by those in the room. The level of detail in your workbook really resonated with our group and it's clear how much time and care went into preparing it." Conference Organiser, 2026 Event "Leon is a dynamic speaker. His session was packed with insights and practical takeaways. He delivers powerful ideas in simple, relatable terms and brings humour, story, and challenge to every room." Director, Origin Energy "In one hour, Leon covered more practical leadership than in most full-day programs. Given a couple of hours it could replace days of traditional training." Senior Engineer, Defence "Leon presented an engaging and insightful online presentation to my membership. I particularly liked his warm affable style and the way he integrated moments of reflection. Highly recommended." Kate Toon, Business and Digital Marketing Coach
