Bonnie Hancock

Hi, My name is Bonnie Hancock. I'm a surf lifesaver and former professional ironwoman from the Gold Coast. This time two years ago, I was lowering myself into a surf ski in crocodile-infested waters in the Northern Territory, pumping Eminem in my headphones to drown out potential splashes. When I tell that story, most people look at me like I'm crazy, but I was chasing a Guinness World Record. Fortunately, it was worth it, as a few months later, I had completed a full lap around Australia on my surf ski, becoming the youngest and fastest person ever to do so. But ironically, the world records weren't the real prize. The prize was the learnings my crew and I took from the journey-in adaptability, resilience, teamwork, growth mindset and learning from failure. It's my journey as a speaker to share these learnings with my audiences, empowering them to go after their own big, scary goal - whatever that may be. I'm a keynote speaker and TED talk alumni, but most importantly I'm a storyteller, and love connecting with people through sharing stories.
