Ormiston Gorge

Ormiston Gorge, located 135 kilometers west of Alice Springs in the West MacDonnell National Park, is a stunning natural attraction renowned for its towering red cliffs and a near-permanent waterhole ideal for swimming. Accessible via sealed roads, it serves as the trailhead for sections 9 and 10 of the 231-kilometer Larapinta Trail. Visitors can embark on the Ormiston Pound Walk, a three to four-hour circuit that traverses rocky slopes and the flat floor of the pound, offering opportunities to observe diverse native flora and fauna.
