Maxiflora, nestled on 55 acres in Newhaven, VIC, is a family-run flower farm established in 1986 by Michael van der Zwet. The van der Zwet family, originally from Lisse, Holland—the home of the Tulip Festival—have been cultivating flowers in Australia since 1956. Today, the farm is led by Michael's sons, Angus, Oscar, and Hunter. Maxiflora is renowned for its commitment to sustainability, being pioneers in recycling water since 1995 and reducing plastic packaging by 90% in the past year. They were the first in Australia to cultivate gerberas, alstroemerias, anthuriums, kangaroo paw, and hellebores year-round. In 2016, they extended the hydrangea production cycle to ten months through innovative botanical research. The farm also supports the local community by collaborating with artists and businesses.
