
Koonara Wines, established in 1992, is a family-owned vineyard located at 44 Church Street, Penola, South Australia. The Reschke family has been part of the Coonawarra region since 1906, with Dru Reschke planting vineyards with his father, Trevor, in the late 1980s. The winery is the only certified organic vineyard in Coonawarra, a certification held since 2017. Their red vines thrive on the renowned terra rossa soil, while whites and Pinot Noir are cultivated in nearby Mount Gambier, Australia's coolest mainland region. Koonara Wines is committed to producing high-quality, age-worthy wines that are vegan-friendly, low in sulphur, and contain low to no residual sugar. The cellar door, situated on Penola's main street, offers wine tastings alongside a curated selection of homewares, gifts, and gourmet treats, providing everything needed for a perfect dinner party. Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, the winery is a short walk from local restaurants, cafes, shops, and accommodations.
