
Greenmount Homestead, located five kilometers west of Walkerston, is a cherished historic site in Mackay. Established in 1915 by Albert Cook, the homestead showcases a Queenslander-style residence, staff quarters, garage, and blacksmith’s workshop, collectively housing over 20,000 artifacts. The heritage-listed gardens feature a formal front garden, fernery, and arbour, reflecting the Cook family's lifestyle. Open Monday to Wednesday and the last Sunday of each month from 9 am to 1 pm, guided tours are available at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, and 11:30 am. Admission fees are $7 for adults, $5 for concession card holders, and $3 for children aged 5-18; children under 5 enter free.
