
Wilpinjong Mine, situated 50 km northeast of Mudgee in New South Wales, is a significant producer of high-quality thermal coal for both domestic and export markets. Operating since 2006, it employs approximately 575 people and utilizes open-cut mining methods to extract coal from the Ulan Seam. In 2024, the mine produced 12.6 million tons of coal, contributing about 25% of New South Wales' coal-generated power supply. Peabody Energy, the mine's owner, is committed to environmental sustainability and community engagement, supporting local employment and contributing to regional economic development.
