Huon Island, located in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel between Bruny Island and Tasmania's mainland, is a 47-hectare landmass with a small human population. The island's vegetation is dominated by introduced grasses and bracken, with scattered white gums in the northwest. It serves as a breeding ground for little penguins and short-tailed shearwaters. Historically, Huon Island was subjected to intensive agricultural activities, and European rabbits have been introduced to the island. The Nuenonne people refer to the island as Prahree.
