The Never Never Museum

Located at 120 Roper Terrace in Mataranka, the Never Never Museum offers a self-guided exploration of the region's rich history. Exhibits showcase local Aboriginal and European heritage, highlighting significant developments such as the North Australian Railway, the Overland Telegraph, and World War II. Adjacent to the Roper Gulf Regional Council office, the museum is open Monday to Friday, with hours varying between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM during the dry season (May to September) and 10:00 AM–2:00 PM during the wet season (October to April). Keys for entry can be collected from the Rural Transaction Centre during business hours.
