Katherine Regional Arts

Katherine Regional Arts, established in 2000, is a vibrant community arts and cultural development organization in Katherine, Northern Territory. It offers a variety of arts opportunities for both artists and non-artists, aiming to bring people together through arts activities to develop relationships and strengthen the community. The organization provides practical and affordable opportunities for the community to develop and practice their interest in the visual arts, including workshops run by skilled artists and Open Studio sessions for self-guided practice. Their studio space includes screen-printing facilities, a print press, a kiln, and a wide variety of materials such as paints, pastels, charcoals, clay, glazes, and lino. Additionally, Katherine Regional Arts hosts a beautiful Solar Cinema, part of an international network of solar-powered mobile cinemas, featuring a 7m x 5m inflatable screen that travels to various sites in Katherine, bush blocks, remote communities, and beyond. The organization also hosts a variety of fun and inclusive events for the Katherine Region, including the annual Junk Festival, which brings the community together to create art from recycled materials, and the Community Choir, offering opportunities to sing pop classics and explore different genres.
