
Yelta is a rural locality at the northern end of the Yorke Peninsula, serving as a satellite village to Moonta. Established in January 1999, it is part of the Copper Coast Council. The western half of Yelta is designated as the Moonta Mines State Heritage Area, emphasizing the conservation of its historic character and cultural significance. The eastern half is zoned for agricultural production and grazing on large holdings. The Yelta Smelter Ruins are listed on the South Australian Heritage Register, reflecting the area's rich mining history.
