Yarrila Place, located at 27 Gordon Street in Coffs Harbour, is a vibrant cultural hub that seamlessly blends contemporary design with deep-rooted heritage. Officially opened in September 2023, this architectural landmark houses the Yarrila Arts and Museum (YAM), a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to showcasing the rich history and culture of the Gumbaynggirr people. The museum features five exhibition spaces, including the permanent 'Yaamanga Around here' exhibition, which delves into the region's identity through a captivating display of objects, artworks, and stories. Visitors can also enjoy the Harry Bailey Memorial Library, offering dedicated areas for children, young adults, local history, and private study. The ground floor is home to the 2D Coffee House, a unique café adorned in monochrome 2D art, serving local Dark Arts Coffee Roastery brews and fresh snacks. Designed by local architect Matthew Blair of BVN Architecture, Yarrila Place is built around a 150-year-old Hill’s Weeping Fig tree, symbolizing the community's connection to nature. The building's open-air atrium and rooftop terrace provide spaces for reflection and community engagement, making it a beacon of creativity and cultural expression in the heart of Coffs Harbour.
