
The Old Brown Coal Mine Museum, operated by the Yallourn North & District Historical Society, showcases the rich history of the area formerly known as Brown Coal Mine. Exhibits feature the Yallourn Open Cut No. 8 Dredger Cabin and a 6 Mega Watt Turbine Generator from the Hazelwood Power Station. Visitors can explore a variety of photographs, paintings, clothing, homewares, tools, and medals that depict the early days of the township. The museum is open on Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm, with additional hours on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 am to 3 pm. As it is operated by volunteers, it's advisable to call ahead to confirm opening hours before visiting.
