
Wongabel State Forest, located 8 km south of Atherton on the Kennedy Highway, offers two accessible walking tracks through a remnant of endangered mabi forest. The 750-meter Forest Walk (Grade: easy) takes approximately 15 minutes, immersing visitors in the unique features of this rare ecosystem. The 2.5-kilometer Heritage Walk (Grade: easy) takes about an hour, flanked by mabi forest and hoop pine plantations, with trackside signs detailing the area's history and culture. Both tracks are wheelchair accessible with assistance and cater to visually impaired walkers. Dogs are permitted on leashes. Please note, camping is not allowed within the forest.
