The Wondai Heritage Museum, located at 80 Mackenzie Street, Wondai, Queensland, offers an immersive journey through over 120 years of local history. Spanning 1,600 square metres, the museum is divided into themed sections, each highlighting different facets of the region's past. The Formal Museum showcases military memorabilia and social development, featuring a bugle played by local resident Jim Houston at the 1945 Japanese surrender in Morati. The relocated 1910 Wondai Hospital operating theatre houses medical implements and historical records. The Machinery Shed displays meticulously restored items, including sulkies, threshers, the "Vince Miller" collection of timber tools, and the "Dennis Fire Engine." The 1930s Slab Barn, with its authentic shingle roof, exemplifies pioneer construction and houses tools used by blacksmiths, cobblers, shearers, and horsemen. The 1920s Oddfellows Hall features intricate lodge regalia and settings depicting a schoolroom, laundry, kitchen, bedroom, cinema, and printing room, offering a walk back through time. The museum is open Wednesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with weekends and outside hours by prior arrangement. Entry is by gold coin donation.
