Freycinet, TAS

Wineglass Bay Beach, nestled within Tasmania's Freycinet National Park, is renowned for its pristine white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The bay is framed by the pink granite peaks of the Hazards mountain range, offering visitors breathtaking views and a serene natural environment. Accessing the beach involves a moderately challenging 1.3 km uphill hike to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, followed by a descent of approximately 1,000 steps to the beach. The return trip is about 6 km and typically takes 2 to 2.5 hours. Along the way, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the bay and the surrounding landscape. The area is also home to diverse wildlife, including wallabies, sea eagles, dolphins, and, during migration seasons, whales. While the walk to Wineglass Bay Beach is rewarding, it is not suitable for everyone. Those less fit should allow extra time and take regular rest stops to admire the view. A valid parks pass is required for entry into Tasmania's national parks.
