Whyte Yarcowie is a small rural locality in South Australia's Mid North region, situated on the Barrier Highway between Hallett and Terowie. Established in 1875, the town was originally named Yarcowie, derived from the Aboriginal word for "flood" or "great waters." In 1929, it was renamed to honor pastoralist John Whyte. The area once thrived with a railway station, flour mill, schools, and hotels, serving the local farming community. Today, it remains a quiet settlement, with the Yarcowie Hotel being one of its notable establishments. The town is also home to a war memorial commemorating those who served in World Wars I and II.
