The Whyalla Maritime Museum showcases the HMAS Whyalla, the first ship built in the Whyalla Shipyards in 1941, standing 2 kilometers inland and 2 meters above ground. Visitors can explore this WWII corvette through guided tours offered daily at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, and 1:30 pm. The museum's galleries feature exhibits on the four wartime corvettes constructed in Whyalla, the BHP shipbuilding era, and the region's diverse marine environment, including a model railway depicting local landscapes. The grounds offer a tranquil garden with native plants, picnic areas, and historical artifacts. Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, except Good Friday and Christmas Day.
