Rising abruptly from the plains north of Whyalla, Wild Dog Hill stands as a prominent feature of Whyalla Conservation Park. Its rugged terrain and imposing profile make it a favored picnic spot for both locals and visitors. The park is home to Red and Grey Kangaroos, with Euros occasionally spotted on Wild Dog Hill at sunset. Smaller mammals like the Common Dunnart, a carnivorous marsupial, also inhabit the area. Birdwatchers can observe over 80 species, including Wedge-tailed Eagles and Australian Kestrels soaring above. The park is open daily from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset.
