Established in 1890, West Wallsend Cemetery is the first general cemetery in the Lake Macquarie area, welcoming all denominations. Nestled among native bushland with views of Mt Sugarloaf, it features marble and granite heritage headstones from the late 1800s. The cemetery offers monumental plots and a niche wall for ashes interment. A memorial on the left side honors unmarked gravesites of local infants and babies. Access is restricted to preserve the grounds, with vehicular entry prohibited.
